I liked your analysis and report, Andy.
Certainly a disappointing result; it is interesting to note, though, that if there were no reserve prices, or at least those were set at a more reasonable level (much lower), the auction would have fetched about $19M to sellers, which would have been a more interesting figure.
Also, it is a bit pre-mature to try and draw conclusions from this particular, first auction, as I heard from numerous attendees that the patent quality was mediocre, to say the least. Better patents should have fetched higher prices.
I hope OT will apply lessons learned and will hold their next auction in the Fall. IP should be a more liquid asset class, and a live auction is a legitimate way to bring liquidity to the market.
