Talk:Verizon FiOS

From Payne.org Wiki

Thanks for sharing your FIOS info, Andy!!

I just got the residential version installed today. I did some Google'ing and came across some info on the Aux Power Jack on the Battery Backup Unit (BBU):

- The BBU is actually made by APC

- It's part of their "PowerShield" line of products: http://www.apc.com/prod_docs/results.cfm?class=user&product=133

- The APC model number is CPL28U12: Manual available at http://sturgeon.apcc.com/techref.nsf/partnum/990-2198B/$FILE/990-2198B-EN.pdf

- APC also sells an External Battery Pack, model number CP20B12BP. Manual available at http://sturgeon.apcc.com/techref.nsf/partnum/990-1660/$FILE/990-1660-EN.pdf
Interesting note: The manual includes a description of "chaining" several of them together.

- I couldn't find anything on the cable/connector, though! Maybe it comes with it; it's not clear.

After all that, I've decided to just go with an off-the-shelf UPS. This way I'll also have a backup for the router that's sitting right next to it!

Thanks again!
